

It was very important for her to share her memories of the chaotic journeys she went on, and the physical struggles she had. She tries to explain what it was like living in Siberia – how difficult it was, and how the morals of wartime are different to the morals of peacetime. In the first, ‘Anna' talks about how she and her family were deported by Russian soldiers in 1940. The most important aspect of these oral history interviews was the way they enabled these people to tell their stories, and explain what it was like to be a refugee. The interviews were conducted in the early 2000s and the Polish participants were quite elderly at the time.
